Maps and beers
Anton and I went to the Nelson pub where we spread Ordnance Survey maps of Sussex out upon the table. A pint or two of Harveys were sipped as we discussed our quest and the project and our various route options: we aim now to try to finish it off in three consecutive days.
Anton Golawski and Peter Kenny are searching for a Sussex dragon. They are also going on a big walk in the countryside, starting at Littlehampton on the coast of the English Channel, past the castle of Arundel, then deep into the Sussex countryside to end up at St Leonard's forest where the dragon is reputed to have lived.
Last seen in around 1614, the dragon is a eight foot long serpent-like creature, who leaves a nasty slimy trail behind it like a giant slug. Worse still: it is a killer. Slaughtering people and mastiff dogs by spitting lethal venom.
